With the countless times the phrase “one another” appears in the Scriptures, how is it that so many are comfortable trying to live the Christian life in isolation with no commitment to a local church? Can we honestly read the Scriptures and not recognize the command to gather? Look at Hebrews 10:24-25: “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
We gather as a body recognizing that the local church is the means by which God displays His glory to the world.
The purpose of Door of Hope’s main Sunday gathering is to come together as a community of faith to declare our love for Jesus through prayer, through the reading of the Scriptures, communion, music, and relationships – that we may be equipped to bring the love of Christ to the city of Portland and beyond.
We currently provide kids church at the 10AM gathering for ages Kindergarten through 5th grade. You can learn more here.
It is our belief that when we seek Jesus Christ with passion and fervor, He will always be found. We will not see an awakening in the city if our own hearts are still asleep. The health of a church is always defined by how fully it worships, how diligently it learns, how intently it prays and how deeply it loves.
